From August 2019 to December 2021, I was the Creative Director of Athletics at The University of Tulsa. I loved this job, but it wasn’t for the faint of heart – I created graphics for all 16 teams at TU and ran the Tulsa Hurricane social media account. The best part about my time at TU was how much I grew in that role. Coming out of college, I had no clue what I was doing, but with the right team, we created a fantastic game-day atmosphere and built a brand that I was more than proud of. The worst part about the job? Lots of hours. I left to find a better work-life balance but still loved my time at TU.
Throughout my time in this role, I focused on branding and creating an overall cohesive theme throughout all of the athletic teams at TU. A few examples of this are above. From Softball to Men’s Basketball, I wanted it to be obvious what name players were wearing on their chests. This required creating brand standards, teaching various coaching staffs, and continuously monitoring the varying team’s social media pages to create a better brand encompassing all campus.
